About Geenee.

What’s it all about?

We love travelling. We love becoming part of the life of a new place, even for a couple of weeks. There’s no better way to do this than with a home exchange holiday. And there’s no better way to exchange homes than with Geenee.

We make swapping simple, quick and secure. Plus, we’ve negotiated exclusive Geenee deals with local companies, so you can share the passions of your chosen city – from surfing in Sydney to dancing in New York – at unique rates.

Discover the world’s coolest cities from the inside out, not the outside in. Join Geenee.

  1. Your homepage mentions that ‘you don’t pay until you have found your perfect holiday’. Does this mean there are fees to pay to Genee at that point?

  2. When you have found an exchange partner, you have the option to take Geenee Cover, which will provide you with a formalised agreement, the chance to comment on each others home and holiday, and our optional Deposit holding services.

You should be aware that some people ask for private deposits for homes which don’t even exist. With Geenee, you are safe.

  3. Hello,

My name is Alison, and I’m an editorial intern at Time Out New York magazine. We are working on a feature about home-swap websites which includes Geenee and I wanted to confirm that we have the correct information.

-Geenee (geenee.com) is a home-swap site based in London
-The site has member ratings based on previous user feedback
-The site provides agreement forms and mediation assistance
-The company will hold a deposit for both parties if asked
    -Membership is currently free
-The company’s organizers plan to introduce a charge (date and price TBA)

    Thanks very much!

  4. Yes, you have it correct there.

To clarify, although Geenee is based in London, the company is worldwide, and has almost 15,000 properties available in just about every country on the planet.

  5. When you visit your Calendar page, you can specify various things, including when and where you are interesting in exchanging. Your calendar is at

Click on date that you are interesting in exchanging, the “from” date. A box appears. Select the “To” date. Any searches in, or near, these dates, will bring your property to the top of the search list.

Select the “entry type”, usually “available for exchange”

Select the number of days that you want to exchange. You may have selected “from August 1st to August 30th”, and here you can say “14 days”, so this would indicate that you were interested in exchanging for two weeks in August.

Next comes the Destination – the area that you want to visit. In your case, you have left it at “Open to Offers”, so people could make suggestions from anywhere in the world. As you want to visit Italy, select Europe, and a second drop down appears, with all the countries in Europe where members have registered properties. That’s where you would select Italy.

If you are still having problems, write to Customer Support – click on the “Contact Us” link at the top of most Geenee pages – and they will help you out.

  6. Google is a Holiday Home Exchange site, for people who want to exchange properties for holidays, or sometimes for business or family reasons. The ownership of the home remains the same, so swaps are not permanent
