Our Home

Our spacious eco-neutral home was built in 2010 and is located in a quiet and spacious neighbourhood, surrounded by a lot of fresh water and greenery.

Noorderplassen West is one of the most recently developed neighbourhoods in Almere, an area of reclaimed land close to Amsterdam, which is easily accessible by either car, or train, or, if you are up to it, by bike.

Many of the houses here are custom built to fit well into the surrounding nature.

Our house was built in 2010, on the edge of the neighbourhood overlooking the dike that holds back the Markermeer.

It has one master bedroom and three (double) bedrooms for the children, as well as a study with a double bed settee, so it has a total sleeping capacity of ten people in all!

We have a cat, Florijn, who is soft and gentle and very child-friendly.

We have a covered seating area in the back garden with a gas barbecue, a balcony on the top floor overlooking the Markermeer, and off-street parking.

Our Neighbourhood

We have direct access to the Lepelaarplassen, a protected area next to the Oostvaardersplassen, which is also on our doorstep. Both are nature reserves teaming with wildlife.

The area is perfect for walking, running, cycling and general outdoor activities, from water sports to bird watching.

And still, within twenty to thirty minutes you can be in the centre of Amsterdam!

About Us

We are a family of five.

We both work in education, and our children still go to primary school.

Our hobbies are quite varied, ranging from rowing to yoga, from fencing to horse riding, and from playing the violin to playing the keyboard.
