Our Home

Our special place is the upper level of a 1928 Deco-modern home with 180 degree views of the bay.

Entry is at the same level from the rear lane.

Though not luxurious, it is clean, bright, modern (some say beautiful) and comfortable, with all appliances, a large outdoor deck and a garden.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, a dining/living room, a study/TV lounge, a queen bedroom with bathroom, and a laundry.

Our car is an old (1983) four-door Volvo 240 that is clean and well serviced.

We are less than an hour from downtown Vancouver, and two and a half hours from Whistler, British Columbia, and Seattle, Washington, USA.

We have views of Mount Baker and the San Juan Islands in the US, as well as of the Gulf Islands and Boundary Bay.

The property is two streets above the beach and oceanfront promenade, and there are numerous restaurants and shops to enjoy.

There is bus service near the house, and further major shopping, theatres and more restaurants a few minutes' drive away.

There are numerous parks, golf courses and water sports nearby, and major hiking and winter skiing is available in the nearby mountains.

We are retired seniors who enjoy nature and bird watching.

We encourage our eighteen-year-old granddaughter to travel with us.

We enjoy the art and culture of the places we visit, though our keen interest lies in the geology, the flora and the fauna.

More about us

Our careers include architectural design, custom building and technology, fine arts and education, and since the late nineties we have volunteered in environmental education and conservation.

We can do simultaneous or non-simultaneous exchanges.
