Our Neighbourhood BeachGolf

Hawke's Bay is in the wine country of New Zealand, known for its red wine, grown mostly on old dry river beds.

Hawke's Bay also produces the largest apple crop in New Zealand, and it is surrounded by the Heretaunga Plains, used for growing crops, and farming sheep and cattle.

More about the neighbourhood

The district offers lots of outdoor activities, like walking, cycling, fishing and various sports, and there are a number of cultural organizations, and many tourist spots well worth visiting.

The nearby Cape Kidnappers gannet colony is world famous, and the Cape Kidnappers golf course was recently rated as the sixth best in the world outside USA. In addition there are at least four other excellent golf courses all within fifteen minutes' drive.

There are many quality wineries, some with top class food and entertainment.

Havelock North is about three hours' drive from the central North Island ski fields, four hours' drive from Wellington, and just over five hours' drive from Auckland.

We have relatively mild winters with a temperature range of about 12 to 18 degrees Celsius with a few mid-winter frosts, and summer temperatures usually ranging between the mid-20s and the low 30s.

There are several beaches within thirty minutes' drive.

About Us

We are recently retired, and now seeking to travel to Ireland, Canada, England, France and Italy for holidays.

Also we are very keen on staying on the Sunshine Coast and near Melbourne in Australia, to visit some of our younger family.

More about us

We enjoy walking, gardening, playing golf, relaxing, being near the seaside, reading and travelling to visit other family and friends in New Zealand.
