A Piece Of Amsterdam
Welcome to our unique and cosy home!
One of the greatest things about our apartment is the neighbourhood. As well as being extremely close to the central station and the famous canal rings, it is peaceful, quiet, and very beautiful, and there are many cafés and restaurants.
Ten minutes' walk away is the busy street of Haarlemmerdijk, one of the greatest streets in the city, and there are great museums such as the Anne Frank House within walking distance.
You can explore Amsterdam so easily on foot or by bike!
We would like you to relax and enjoy our home as if it were your own, but please remember that this is our own home, we love it, and we expect the utmost respect not only for our home but also for our neighbours.
We keep our house clean, and would expect you to do the same.
We don't have many rules but these four are very important:
No smoking indoors (if you do smoke, please do so outside)
And maybe a strange but still very important one: NO LEMONS on the concrete kitchen top!
Although the apartment only sleeps two, we do have an inflatable bed suitable for two children.
If you like to sit outside please use the bench at the front which gets sun all day.
Close to the Central Station (just four stops on bus 48, or fifteen minutes' walk along the river IJ), the Jordaan area (five minutes' walk) and lots of local amenities.
The free ferry at the end of our street quickly takes you across the water to Amsterdam North, a great hang out for local artists, with boutique shops as well as the famous IJ Hallen, home to a huge flea market held once a month.
There is a tram stop just around the corner, and the tramis a great way to get round the city! Tram 3 will take your all the way to the other side of the city; a one-hour tram ticket costs around 2.90 euros, and 7.50 for a whole-day ticket costs 7.50 euros.
But I will always recommend hiring a bike. It is the best way to view the city, and it's cheap, but please be careful if your not used to riding a bike: bikes move fast! But you can easily explore Amsterdam on foot or by bike as we are so central.
Feel free to ask us any questions any time: we will always try to be as helpful as possible.
Happy exploring, and enjoy your trip!
My partner Aran and I came to Amsterdam six years ago, and we love it here!
We bought our apartment in August 2015 and have spent a year renovating it and making it our own small piece of Amsterdam.
I work for a fashion company as the manager of the atelier, and my partner Aran is a tiler.
He did all the work himself on the apartment, and we decorated in together.
We are proud of where we live, and we love where we live - come here to Amsterdam and live like a local in our apartment!
We also have two bikes for you to get around on.
We are fun, friendly and proud people who want to eventually travel the world, but currently looking to stay for a week or two in New York.
