More about this property

We are currently looking for a simultaneous or non-simultaneous swap with London for 2-4 weeks in December 2016-January 2017

Our two-storey Cape-Dutch style house is on The Island, 200m from the lagoon, and set in a lush garden.

Garden furniture under the peppercorn tree and a Weber barbecue ensure great outdoor living.

The light and airy house has a large sun room with built in bar and fridge and with glass doors opening completely, giving a garden feel to the room and keeping it cool.

The dining room has a large blackwood table which seats eight, and there is an adjacent smaller lounge/TV area (with full satellite TV [DSTV] and DVD player).

The whole entertainment area is open-plan with sandstone tiles. It is cool in the summer, and there is a fireplace for the odd chilly winter's evening.

The contemporary, compact kitchen is equipped with all mod cons, Siemens oven and glass top hob (electric and gas) with extractor fan, Bosch fridge/freezer, LG dishwasher and microwave, Jura coffee machine, and all granite tops.

Washing machine and tumble dryer are also on hand, and garden and cleaning service is included.

There is an en-suite bedroom downstairs which can be configured either as double or twin, and an en-suite bedroom upstairs with a king size bed.

Both bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans which keep the rooms cool on those warm summer nights.

Heating is seldom necessary in this mild climate, but extra blankets are on hand and suffice on colder evenings.

Both bathrooms have showers, and there are also heated towel rails.

The house can sleep five or six in the three bedrooms (the downstairs bedrooms can be configured as shown in pictures). However the spare bedroom is very small, especially when used as double room, and has no cupboard space at all.

There is also a study upstairs, and WiFi is available throughout the house.

A car can be available if required, and there is a bike available too.

Our home is suitable for children, but not equipped for them.

Our Neighbourhood GolfBeach

This malaria-free area is traversed by multiple rivers, has a lake district of five lakes, unsurpassed beaches, some breathtaking mountain ranges, the largest stretch of historical indigenous forest south of the equator, and a wild fynbos garden unlike anywhere else on earth.

More about the neighbourhood

Its mild Mediterranean-type climate encourages people to spend a great deal of time in the glorious natural environment enjoying a vast range of outdoor activities that include wind surfing, skiing, swimming, paragliding, hiking on the beaches, mountain and forest trails, mountain biking on many spectacular scenic cycling routes, fishing, and kayaking/canoeing on the rivers and lagoons (

It is a perennially green region making it ideal for golfing, and it boasts no less than twelve renowned courses, five of which are championship courses.

Fancourt, Kingswood, George, Oubaai, Simola, Pezula and Knysna golf courses are all within thirty minutes' drive from Sedgefield, with others further away, up and down the entire Garden Route.

Sedgefield also has its own Links course! - a nine-hole mashie course (

Sedgefield is also renowned for its Saturday markets which draw locals and visitors alike and offer both farmers' goods and food as well as a wide range of local crafts.

Sedgefield is South Africa's only Slow Town (, and is set in the heart of the Garden Route, four hundred and fifty kilometres from Cape Town - and the drive from Cape Town is beautiful!

We are also only thirty-five kilometres from George Airport (with flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town).

About Us

We are a married couple, Swiss/South Africans, he 60, she 59, residing in Sedgefield on the beautiful Garden Route of the Western Cape, South Africa.

We travel frequently to Europe as we have family there, but try to take some days for our own vacation time.

More about us

We enjoy the travelling, and exploring new areas, discovering fine cuisine and good wines, and experiencing local cultural norms in both rural and urban environments.

We are by nature clean and courteous people, and from years of travelling give as much care to other people's homes as to our own.
