United States / Washington / Coupeville
Close To Seattle; Close To Canada
We are interested primarily in European exchanges from two weeks and up. Also, shorter getaways around Seattle.
Our home is on Whidbey Island, at the edge of the Pacific Ocean.
You can watch cruise ships, tankers and private boats sail by as you grill hot dogs and hamburgers (or salmon steaks) on our large second-story deck.
Then enjoy amazing sunsets at the end of the day, while sipping on a glass of locally produced Siegerrebe or Madeleine Angevine wine.
Nearly thirty miles of both hiking and biking trails through thick, rolling forest and along the water's edge await at Fort Ebey State Park, located right next to our community.
While nature abounds here, but we are also close to lots of restaurants offering a variety of cuisine as well as Pacific Northwest seafood specialities.
Day trips to large cities like Seattle, and Victoria and Vancouver, Canada are easy by car and/or ferry.
Forks, Washington, setting for the popular “Twilight†series of books and films, is on the Olympic Peninsula just across the water from us, an easy drive and ferry ride away.
The popular San Juan Islands, which you can see from our deck, are easy to reach as well, thanks to the inexpensive state ferry system.

Hiking in the forest and along uncrowded coastline (too rough for swimming).
Farmers' markets, small-town theatre, library, restaurants, and interesting side trips.
Very comfortable home in a small community.
We are a retired journalist and a retired teacher who are interested in experiencing typical life in other cultures.
