Beautiful 14th Century house in the picturesque old salmon fishing village of Stoke Gabriel in South Devon.
Enjoy boating up and down the stunning River Dart by boat, to its various pubs on the river, or Michelin starred restaurants in nearby Dartmouth.
Two miles from the Devon coast, with some of the most dramatic coastline and best beaches in the UK, and three miles from the historic medieval town of Totnes ("capital of New Age chic" according to Time Magazine).
Our Neighbourhood
The village boasts a waterside café/bistro and two pubs, including the thirteenth century Church House Inn, with a choice of real ales and regular guest beers.
It's an ideal base, with Dittisham, Kingswear and Dartmouth just a short boat ride or sailing trip down the river, and close to what must be two of the most beautifully positioned pubs in the world, The Maltsters Arms at Tuckenhay and The Ferry Boat Inn at Dittisham, both sitting on the River Dart with impressive views out over the water.
The River Dart valley is great place to spend a holiday appealing to families, couples, walkers, water enthusiasts and bird watchers alike. Canoes are also available for the river.
A fifteen-minute drive further down the Dart towards Kingswear you can visit the National Trust gardens of Greenway House, Agatha Christie's previous home. From here you can take the short passenger ferry across to the picturesque waterside village of Dittisham, and enjoy a pint and a meal at The Ferry Boat Inn.
At Kingswear you can take the car ferry across to Dartmouth. Here you can sample some fabulous food, great shopping, and take one of the many different boat trips on offer.
Away from the Dart there are some great beaches within an easy drive, including the popular Torbay beaches.
Beyond Brixham, just off the beaten track, is Mansands, which is more peaceful.
And in just under a hour's drive you can get to the superb blue flag rated Blackpool Sands and many other excellent beaches.
About Us
We are a family of five, with two boys aged ten and twelve, and a girl aged six.My husband is a composer and I work in marketing.
We would love to exchange homes for 2 weeks from 7/13 Aug 11 any where in France/Spain & Italy.
