The facilities are modest, but nicely kept. The apartment is on the ground floor in a two-unit building on a quiet street. It is an independent and self-contained unit with its own entrance from the street. The apartment is over 500 sq ft and consists of two rooms plus a bathroom with shower over tub.

The larger room is a bedroom which has a queen bed, a twin bed, dresser, desk, bookcases, TV and DVD player.

The smaller room is a kitchen, part of which has been converted into a casual sitting area.

The kitchen faces out to a private patio and a beautifully landscaped garden that is shared with the upper unit.

The kitchen contains a sink, refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, and toaster-oven.

A laundry room with washer and dryer adjoins the kitchen.

Street parking in the Marina is controlled, but there is room for your car in the garage.

The garage has tandem parking for two cars, so visitors usually leave a key, in case it is needed to allow access for the other car.


Our Neighbourhood

The apartment is in the Marina district of San Francisco. The Marina is a neighbourhood situated on the northern waterfront between Fishermen's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge.

A short walk brings you to the most visited San Francisco attractions including Fishermen's Wharf and Pier 39, Alcatraz tours, cable cars, the Marina Green, the Palace of Fine Arts, and Crissy Field.

The Marina is a lovely residential area known for recreation and its waterfront with world-class views. It has two boat harbours, plus numerous restaurants and shops located on small commercial streets, visited more by locals than tourists.

Beyond the immediate neighbourhood, San Francisco is a compact city and its other major attractions - all of which are within two or three miles of the apartment - can be reached by longer walks or public transport, or a combination of both.

If you like to bike, you can rent one and ride across the Golden Gate Bridge to lunch in Sausalito, and then return by ferry to Fishermen's Wharf.

If you are still looking for something to do, you can drive to Napa Valley, Muir Woods, the Sonoma Coast, or any one of the other Northern California destinations, and return the same evening.


About Us

We are former electronics and biotech professionals, non smokers with no pets, and our home is upstairs in the same building as the apartment.

The apartment being offered for exchange has been used as our "guest house" for many years.

More about us

Recently retired, we want to travel now and we hope to exchange for accommodations in interesting locations.

We believe a non simultaneous or non concurrent trade would be a flexible arrangement for anyone who has a vacation home or similar setup.

Simultaneous exchanges could also work, and we would consider exchanging our main home upstairs, a much larger living space, for the right opportunity.
