Grande Maison De Caractère
Large, granite 18th century house (200 m2) available for non-simultaneous exchange. Situated in a hamlet on the edge of a forest, at 1100 metres altitude, in Auvergne, on the border of the departments of Haute-Loire, Lozère, and Cantal, in the heart of the country where the Beast of Gevaudan once roamed.
The house can accommodate up to 8 people plus a baby. There is a large bedroom with a double bed and room for a baby, another bedroom, also with a double bed, a very large children's room (40 m2) with a double bed and a trundle bed with room for two children. We can provide all the baby equipment you may need: child bed and cot, high chair, bath toys etc.
The house is recently renovated and has all the equipment necessary for a pleasant and comfortable stay: a modern kitchen, fitted in 2007 (with induction cooker, hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc), a bathroom and a shower room, a laundry, a very large dining room with a granite fireplace, two living rooms upstairs.
In front of the house there is a courtyard with a covered terrace for dining or relaxing.
Since it as a second home, non-simultaneous exchanges are possible.
This property is particularly suitable for those who appreciate living in an unspoilt rural environment.
You can go for many walks, and we can provide you with the right guidebooks.
The area is famous for trout fishing, and there are opportunities for water sports (canoeing, kayaking and rafting) on the river Allier (with water sport centres about 20 km away).
For lovers of historical heritage, the village is part of the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire du Haut Allier (with numerous sites within a radius of 30 km, churches with mural paintings, castles etc), and the town of Le Puy-en-Velay is also easily accessible (50 km), and, if you want to follow the tracks of the Beast of Gevaudan, there are museums at Saugues and Auvers.
On Fridays, there is a farmers' market at Saugues, a small town which has shops and services of all kinds (supermarket, doctor, bakeries, swimming pool, tennis courts, lake, etc).
You can make day excursions to explore the Auvergne (the Parc des Volcans d'AuvergneAuvergne, Cantal, Sancy, Puy de Dome, Vulcania), and also the Tarn Gorges, Aubrac, the Causses, etc.
We are a family of five, including three boys aged 19, 16 and 10, and we all love to travel. To us, home exchanging seems a friendly and economic way to discover new landscapes and new peoples. Whenever delighted with the formula!
We are open to any proposal, both further away for the school holidays and closer to home for weekends.
The house will be free for non simultaneous exchange in :
