Brisbane Queensland Australia. Three different housing options, choose one, or a combination.
In the city - stay longer time in luxury studio apartment, or shorter swap for a modern 4 bedroom 3 bath home.
AND/OR beach holiday home on famous Stradbroke Island.
(Mentioned on Law and Order once!)
OPTION ONE:
Studio apartment with kitchen, bathroom, air con, private entrance and covered patio under private home in Yeerongpilly, a magnificent heritage house known as a "Queenslander" 20 metre lap pool, full tennis court. Aussie barbecue area. (Swap for longer time).
OPTION TWO:
Yeronga Brisbane. 7kms from CBD. Julie's house is a 4 bedroom, very comfortable and modern house with 3 bathrooms and pool. Double lock up garage. Spacious lounge dining area opens to large deck with BBQ. (Swap for shorter time).
OPTION THREE:
Stradbroke Island beach holiday house. 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, large deck. Ocean views.
EVERYTHING IS NEGOTIABLE. All we need is 4 weeks for 3 people in NY in May or June 2009.
Our Neighbourhood
Brisbane is the capital of the state of Queensland. Called the Sunshine State. We are close to the most beautiful beaches in the world. Australia's most famous tourist destinations. 50mins South to Gold Coast, 60mins North to Sunshine Coast and 60mins west to islands of Moreton Bay.
Both houses offered in Yeerongpilly and Yeronga are 7 km from the city (downtown), with bus and train and short walk.
Brisbane is described as a country town with city amenities.
If you choose the studio, Tim will be upstairs to show you around and meet the neighbours.
We also have a 42' boat that we could take you out on if the times cross over and we are in Brisbane together, come see the best boating bay in Australia.
Stradbroke Island (Straddie) is where the Brisbane professional families own holiday houses. Julie has a 3 bedroom holiday house there we can include in the exchange.
About Us
We are Tim and Jenny and have 2 kids: Meg - 18, and Billy - 15, at boarding school. 2 dachshunds Alfie and Cino. We are planning to have some chickens again by the time this goes out, so fresh eggs too!
Meg is hoping to study at the New York Film Academy (Prince Street and Broadway) for 4 weeks either for all May (1st preference) or all June.
Hence this search.
Julie (my sister-in-law) and I (Jenny), are looking to go with her. Julie has a modern house closeby that may suit better, she only uses on weekends because she and her husband have a fabulous house in the country - Boonah. He's a lawyer there, but also runs some cattle. (So bush visit also a probability).
Basically all we are after is 4 weeks' accommodation in NY near the NY Film Academy for at least 3 people for all May or all June 2009. Being Aussies we like some space, but looking at NY it seems "compact" housing will be part of the experience. Some great neighbours would be a huge bonus for us.
The options for your stay here in Australia need not be confined to the month we are over there. Given the price differential, you can stay here longer than we stay there and have a choice of properties. Time in the city? Time on Stradbroke Island? You can mix it up.
