Italy / Introdacqua
Enchanting medieval Italian village. Stone house. We have recently finished renovating our house from top to toe. It is a very warm and sunny house. It has 3 levels, 4 balconies, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, small sunny garden, barbecue.
We have central heating and an open fire, so is cosy and warm in the winter. Ideal for a ski holiday.
We are 30mins from Roccarasso ski resort and many other ski resorts. I think there are about 10 to 15 different ski fields within 45 mins.
In August we are spoilt for musical and food, gastranomic, festivals. A large number of international artists coming for classical, show bands, opera, rock, folk and jazz. There also a number of different festivals in nearby villages.
The ancient walled city of Sulmona, our main shopping area is only 7 mins by car. The large markets are held there every Wed and Sat. Sulmona, also has a number of different festvals and a Jousting festa in early August.
A nature lovers dream Abruzzo is 70% National Park, ideal for hiking and walks.
The Abruzzo is an amazing place with plenty to do and see. Lake Scanno is wonderful for a day trip as is Pacentro and how about a picnic at Passo San Leonardo. All absolutely gorgeous.
There horse riding, mountain tracks for walking and mountain biking.
Located in Introdacqua, a beautiful medieval village, 10 minutes from the ancient city of Sulmona.
Introdacqua is 2 hours' easy drive from Rome's airports, and 1 hour from Pescara airport.
There are very good public rail and bus services to Sulmona, and also a good taxi and bus service to Introdacqua.
Casa Eva is located in a narrow cobble-stoned Piazza, in a very old part of the village. It is a typical old Italiano stone house, with beautiful coved ceilings, walls two feet thick, with an open fire in the lounge.
The upstairs balcony overlooks the mountains, a forest, and a large community garden. Truly a beautiful spot to have your breakfast.
Casa Eva has recently been renovated to the highest standard. The house has central heating, so is cosy in the winter.
We have a lovely sunny garden for relaxing in.
Free Internet access is available.
A very good, reasonably priced restaurant is nearby.
In Sulmona, every Wednesday and Saturday there is a very busy, bustling market, where you can buy reasonably priced food and clothing.
There is plenty to do in the area, with a couple of National Parks at our back door, and also skiing fields aplenty, just about 30-45 minutes away.
There are a number of interesting Medieval villages in close vicinity, historic architecture, frescoes, old churches, all waiting to be discovered. Each village is different, and each has its own character and charm.
Every day, there is yet another delectable locality to be explored and enjoyed, or one can just meander, and stroll to the main Piazza for a cafe.
This is where you will meet the true, friendly Italian at grassroot level, doing what they love to do, passing the time of day chatting, which they have been doing here for centuries.
You will savour these delightful memory morsels time and again, long after you have returned home from your amazing ITALIANO AFFAIR!!!
Originally from Christchurch New Zealand. Now living permenently in Italy. My interests lie in fibre/textile art, quilt-making, mixed media art and writing. I have a studio on the ground floor, where I teach classes and have a small art gallery.
Bruce is a builder/musician, plays keyboard and sings in a band.
In 2012 we would like to exchange in Paris the 1st week of August 2012 and Amsterdam the 2nd week of August 2012.
We would also like to exchange in Caloundra, or somewhere close on the Sunshine Coast of Australia from Dec 2011 to feb 2012. This would suit people who are keen on skiing and would like to experience Christmas in an Italian village.
