Canada / British Columbia / Rosswood, Terrace
12-year old house completely renovated in 2007. 2500 sq feet, 4 bedrooms, 2 baths. 10 acres (4.04 hectares) of wooded property with a lovely view of a spectacular mountain.
New wood floors throughout, gas/electric heat, new appliances, fixtures, and furniture. Pet and child friendly- we have two cats, so pets can be accommodated.
In-home recreational gear includes a Nintendo Wii, a DVD player with a projector and sound system, several networked computers for gaming and Internet access, hundreds of books, a bunch of board games, and a huge pile of LEGO.
Transportation-wise, we have a Chev Blazer with 4WD available (but you are free to rent a car if you so desire). If you're coming for the naturalist/fishing/outdoors stuff, the 4WD is nice for getting to those out-of-the-way spots. The main roads are all paved, of course, but the real fun starts when you get away from the highways!
Our home is located in a small rural community half an hour from the larger city of Terrace, BC. From our place, it's less than an hour to three world-class fishing rivers (The Nass, the Tseax, and the Skeena) where many people sports-fish year round.
We're a 10-minute drive from a good-sized lake with additional fishing and recreational opportunities, and we have a canoe available as well. The Nisga'a Memorial Lavabed Park is 45 minutes away, where hiking, photographic, and cultural tourism are available. In addition, we are close to several well-developed mountain hiking trails, if that's of interest to you. If cultural tourism is your thing, you can't get much better than visiting the Nisga'a People in the Nass Valley; a warm, welcoming people, they have cultural activities year round that visitors are always welcome to attend. In addition, there are many local guides for activities such as fishing, hiking, boating, and photography. Wildlife abounds in this region, so if you have a decent camera, you'll be sure to get lots of amazing pictures!
Jethro and Roberta work for a local school board in the IT department. Roberta handles the student information systems and website development, while Jethro produces audio-video materials for classroom instruction. They are both avid readers and computer users.
They are in their mid thirties and have two children and two cats who don't like to travel. Roberta is addicted to the V&A Museum in London.
