At the heart of Haute Provence,
between the Mountain of Lure, the Lubéron, the Swiss Alps and Mont Ventoux, a small village nestles. It is called Fontienne.

At the edge of the village there is a nice house, which is located just a few steps from the old bread oven and the fountain.

The village has only about a hundred inhabitants, and calm and peace reign supreme.

The house (150 m2) is a large and spacious dwelling from the thirteenth century, which was once the home of the forest warden of the Earls of Provence.

Access through a pedestrian alley, with an inner courtyard, a covered balcony, and a large terrace overlooking an enclosed, shady garden (20 m2).

The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, oven and hob, microwave, refrigerator, freezer etc.

Large TV lounge with an open fireplace and a mezzanine.

Sleeps ten to eleven people. Two bathrooms; two open fireplaces.

A car is also offered for exchange.

Large living room/library, with TV, DVD player, internet access, open fireplace, an extra bed (120 x 190 cm), a comfy chair, and a door opening onto the covered balcony.

Two bathrooms (one with a bathtub and one with a shower), both with toilets, and one with a washing machine.

Four bedrooms:

- One with a 140 x 190 cm bed and a washbasin;

- One with two 90 x 190 cm beds and a fireplace;

- One with one 130 x 190 cm bed;

- One with a 160 x 190 cm bed and a 90 x 190 cm bed.

Mezzanine above the living room with one 80 x 190 cm bed.

Cot, high-chair, iron and ironing board, electric heating.

Garden furniture, barbecue, table tennis, board games etc.

Shady terrace with table and chairs for dining.

Our Neighbourhood Skiing

The house is located in the centre of a village with stone houses and some sixty inhabitants, calm and peaceful, and not overlooked.

The village is so small that there are no street names or house numbers.

More about the neighbourhood

There are no shops either, but you can buy bread and groceries from itinerant merchants who come twice a week, or go to Forcalquier (7 km), where you will find everything you need.

LOCATION:

Motorway: A51, 18 km away (exit Forcalquier).

Local facilities: lots of goats, itinerant grocer and baker.

Five kilometres away: Saint-à‰tienne-les-Orgues, with small shops, restaurants, cafés, post office, pharmacy, doctors, municipal swimming pool, tennis court, media library, and tourist office.

Seven kilometres away: Forcalquier, with small shops, two supermarkets, doctors, pharmacies, cinemas, post office, swimming pool, tennis court, cafés, restaurants, tourist office, etc.

LEISURE:

Municipal swimming pool and shady tennis courts at Saint-à‰tienne-les-Orgues.

Hiking, the Way of Saint James of Compostela, the Mountains of Lure and the Gorges of Oppedette and the Forcalquier area with marked hiking and cycle paths, riding, tennis.

Canoeing and kayaking in the Gorges du Verdon, boating in the Esparon and Sainte-Croix lakes.

Balloon flights, organ concerts in Forcalquier Cathedral, jazz and other musical events, agricultural fairs, markets with produce from Haute Provence, and street markets in the various villages.

PLACES TO VISIT:

The Haute Provence Observatory, and the Centre for Astronomy at Saint-Michel-l'Observatoire.

Carluc Priory at Céreste, Ganagobie Priory, Notre Dame de Lure,
Notre Dame du Bourguet at Forcalquier, Salagon Priory and Château de Sauvan at Mane, and Romanesque churches and chapels in the surrounding villages.

The Ethnological Museum at Salagon in Mane with its ethnobotanical gardens, the Mining Museum at Saint-Maime, the Paleontological and Archeological Museum at Vachères, and the Astronomical Museum at Saint-Michel-l'Observatoire.

The Cheesemaking Ecomuseum at Banon.

Valsainte Abbey and its rose garden, the Lure Mountains, and Mont Ventoux.

Daily farmers' markets in the surrounding villages.
