Canada / Nova Scotia / Pleasantville
We spent 3 years designing our beautiful retirement dream home. It is state of the art construction, built to resemble a beachfront cottage on two acres of pristine river frontage. Our home is a haven of privacy and beauty, with expansive windows and decks to enjoy the view year round.
From the moment you enter the front door, you are drawn to the view, with every room designed to capitalize on it. Imagine waking in the morning to the beautiful sunrise over the water. In the winter the river is frozen where you can enjoy ice fishing and skating. Once the ice thaws in the spring, the boats emerge as the Lahave River is a haven for sailing and pleasure boating.
Facing south, our home is built on an 11-acre peninsula overlooking the LaHave River, with only 8 other neighbouring family homes, all custom built. Our neighbors and relatives are close at hand - if you need them, but will always respect your privacy!
Also on our property is a three bedroom guest cottage which although not winterized, can be made available for rent after April if required. Because we have this additional space, non-simultaneous exchanges are possible.
The town of Bridgewater is close by, where you will find all of the necessities for your stay. Approximately 15 km down the river are 3 beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and some of the most interesting islands in Nova Scotia.
Nearby are the quaint towns of Mahone Bay, and Lunenburg (which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the home of the Bluenose). Both towns are noted for their history, beauty, crafts and artisans, not to mention their wonderful shops and eating establishments.
From our home you can travel leisurly anywhere in Nova Scotia within hours due to our central location. Whether its a day trip to the Annapolis Valley or weeknd trip to the Highlands of Cape Breton, you will find beauty and hospitality that is second to none in the world.
Our capital city of Halifax is only one hour away with the International Airport just a little farther down the road.
We are Laurie and Yvonne, married for 41 years. We love our Nova Scotia home, cherish our past vacations in Hawaii, and the Caribbean and we love to sail!
Our son is an archeologist in Argentina and our daughter is a company director of marketing and communications.
Yvonne is retired from public education and now works privately as an autism consultant, while Laurie is retired from 35 years of retail management and sales.
We have completed 4 successful (non-simultaneous) home swaps,
We are also experienced house-sitters, if a swap is not possible.
