Australia / New South Wales / Bundanoon
Our home is in Bundanoon village, in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales. We are a few minutes stroll to both the local shops and Morton National Park with its many scenic walks, picnic spots, breathtaking views and waterfalls. The house is very comfortable and has been extensively renovated.
There are two living areas, three bedrooms, one bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a large garden which attracts a host of colourful wild birds. There is a covered patio overlooking the garden with outdoor furniture, a seperate laundry, studio and garage. The home has reverse- cycle airconditioning.
The Southern Highlands are perfectly located as a touring base for New South Wales, being just over an hour from Sydney, an hour from the beautiful, unspoilt south coast beaches and two hours from the Australian capital city of Canberra. The area is renown for its natural beauty and boasts many golf courses and wineries.
Bowral, the main township and a 15 minute drive from Bundanoon, is a vibrant centre with boutiques, restaurants, antique stores as well as supermarkets. The village of Bundanoon (www.bundanoon.com.au) is the gateway to the 130,000 hectare Morton National Park. It retains a lovely old-world atmosphere and there are some good craft shops, several excellent art galleries, cafes and tea rooms, restaurants, a great pub/hotel and a railway station with a regular service to Sydney city. Each year in April, Bundanoon becomes Brigadoon for a day, hosting one of the largest Scottish Highland Gatherings in New South Wales. It is a day of nonstop Scottish entertainment - massed pipe bands, highland games and dancing. There are lots of famous view points near the village ("Echo Point", "Fairy Bower") and the area is full of wild flowers and flocks of native birds. The perfect end to a day in Bundanoon is a walk down to "Glow Worm Glen" or a stroll to the edge of the village to see kangaroos and wallabies.
We are Pat and Don, supposedly retired, but very busy in the local community. We moved to the Southern Highlands from Sydney a few years ago and love the life here. We share our home with a very independent cat, Ellie-May, who would prefer to stay at home whilst we are exchanging.
Our neighbour would be happy to care for her when our exchangers are away touring, and, of course, we would be pleased to care for pets in our exchange home.
Pat is Australian, Don is originally from England. We would love to exchange in the UK, New Zealand or the US but are also open to offers from anywhere worldwide. We are very flexible with dates and duration.
