New Zealand / Waiheke Island, Auckland
Beautiful Home In Paradise
Our comfortable, modern 2/3 bedroom single level house, (with 2 bathrooms, a dressing room, plus a study and a salt water swimming pool) is clean, spacious and comfortable with open plan lounge, dining room and modern kitchen, all with magnificent views of water and vineyards from all windows. A car is available for your use.
Our house is on Waiheke Island, an island paradise only 35 minutes by fast ferry to Downtown Auckland City. We commute daily to Auckland, as do more than 1300 other people of the 8000 population on the Island.
Our house is 5 minutes from two beautiful safe beaches, very near to more than 20 vineyards, olive groves and associated restaurants.
Our island is the home of a diverse mixture of people from all walks of life including the very wealthy and the creative.
We have many shops including a supermarket, shops for hardware, organic produce, clothes, souvenirs, several liquor outlets, 3 petrol stations, an excellent taxi and bus service, plus car and cycle hire services & two medical centres. The island has a wide range of live entertainment. Waiheke is renowned for the quality of wines that it produces and there are more the 20 vineyards in close proximity, many with cafes where lunch and tastings can be experienced during the warm summer days. Many artists work on the island and have regular displays of their work. There are many tracks around the beautiful bays for hiking and native birds abound in the forest. We have an art museum, a musical museum, a golf course, and active sports club, horse riding and of course magnificent beaches where swimmimng is safe. Boating is popular, kayaking and paragliding is available during summer months, and fishing can be rewarding with the right local knowledge. There are excellent restaurants on the Island where reservations must be made to ensure seats during the summer period. New Zealand is not making any new islands at present, and consequently land prices have soared on Waiheke Island as people rush to purchase land and property on a small piece of exotic real estate that is 'of the city but removed from the city'
Margaret and I are retired educationalists; Errol is an Emeritus Professor of Horticultural Science and Margaret was a school principal before she bought an education business. We have eased into retirement slowly. We have travelled widely throughout the world over the past 20 years.
Margaret is a dedicated gardener and had transformed a grass field into a lush semitropical garden.
We are very house proud and look forward to treating your home is the same manner that we treat our own.
