United States / Minnesota / minnetonka
Living here in our quiet, woodsy suburb of Minnetonka is like living in the country while being only a 15 drive from as much culture as you'd ever want(Minneapolis/St. Paul). We're also only twenty-five minutes from the airport, so we're easy to reach by car or cab.
Our beautiful, sunlit home is located in a suburb just west of Minneapolis. As you can see from the pictures, the house sits high on a hill, surrounded by maple trees, overlooking a lush garden and pond. Within a five minute bike ride or walk, you'll find yourself connected to a walking and bicycling path that literally connects you from our house to the entire Twin Cities. We have a tandem recumbent bike (a comfortable bicycle built for two) which you'll LOVE, as well as two other bicycles and two cars. If you like nature, you'll enjoy the regular visits from deer, Canada geese, cardinals, red-headed woodpeckers, redwinged blackbirds, yellow finches, orioles, egrets, owls, and countless other marshland animals.
Minnesota is called "Land of 10,000 lakes," but in fact, we have over 15,000 lakes The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are divided by the Mississippi River, which begins as a trickle in Northern Minnesota and gathers force on its way to the Gulf of Mexico.
Minnesota is known for its friendly, honest people, great theatre and arts scene, fabulous restaurants and markets, fishing, boating, bicycling, bird watching, and fantastic shops. For those of you who like to shop, we're just twenty minutes from the Mall of America--the largest indoor shopping mall in the United States. It houses 11 miles of great shops and a huge indoor amusement park with lots of activities for kids.
Al's brother Rich is the music director for A Prairie Home Companion, the famous live radio show that's broadcast from the Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul. If you 're interested, I'm sure we can get you tickets to the show.
Let us know if you're interested in arranging a house exchange. Al and I are both self-employed, our daughter is in college, so we're open to all offers, within the United States and abroad. We look forward to hearing from you! Betsy Sansby
Safe, clean, quiet neighborhood.
Miles and miles of biking and hiking trails, mature woods, University of Minnesota Arboretum with acres of wooded trails hidden gardens, and orchards, vibrant metropolitan area with more theatre companies per capita than New York City, Mall of America (with 11 miles of indoor shopping), 15,000 lakes for fishing, camping, boating and outdoor activities, fabulous restaurants, arts scene.
Al is a musician, and together we wrote seven instructional books on hand drumming and percussion. He's also an ex-lawyer and legal writing instructor--but many years ago he quit law and returned to his first love, music.
I'm also a licensed marriage & family therapist, but at the moment I'm spending as much time as possible singing with Al. We have one daughter, Molly, who is away at college in New York, and who sometimes travels with us. Like us, she is very interested in music, and has recently started playing the bass guitar.
*** We'd like to arrange an exchange with someone in the Asheville, North Carolina area for 10 days to 2 weeks, July 8th through at least the 11th, and we're hoping to be in Scotland for at least the last week in July through the first week in August, so our home will be available for a non-simultaneous exchange at that time.
