Ireland / Glasnevin, Dublin
Our house is a large period edwardian home filed with character and life. Spacious sitting room, dining room, breakfast room , kitchen and utility room kitted out with all the modern conveniences. The bedrooms are big and airy and very comfortable. The large back garden is a luxury so close to the city centre.
Trampoline dominates a bit as our kids are 9, 12 and 15 and just love the trampoline. But there is plenty room left for the adults to sit out under the parasol and enjoy the bar be que amoung the flowers. Side entrance is handy for the kids to come and go on their bikes. You'd love to stay here for 2 weeks and may even never venture out!!!
The neighbourhood is a much sought out part of the City called Glasnevin and Iona where we live is much renowned as an area with a beautiful ambiance and great community spirit. The houses being all red brick are really lovely. It is a quite street to live on with next to no traffic.
Children play along the road quite safely all day with a green around the corner and a park with a playground just 5 minutes away. We are within walking distance from the city centre but being lazy we usually take the bus or drive. The shops are very close and there is a shopping centre 15 minutes walk away where there is everything from hairdressers, butchers, mcDonalds , a wonderful Itialian restaurant, pharmacy etc etc. There is a choice of several beaches just 20 miunutes away - if that. the Pheonix park, the largest walled park in Europe 15 minutes, the National Botanical Gardens only 8 minutes walk with a beautiful Cafe to relax in after your walk amoung the flowers. It really is a wonderfully situated house - so close to everything and yet in a quiet suburban area. At the other end of the road ther is the Maples hotel, a small hotel in a charming period house - you could have your breakfast there on a lazy day or pop up for a bite some evening you don't feel like cooking. The area is a perfect base for all travellers if you had time to see more of Ireland - 20 minutes from the airport and only 20 - 30 minutes from the train/bus station. So much to do in Dublin though!!
